Submit message: He sits waiting for me, a soul laced with darkness he waits patiently, I walk towards him slowly, A smile across his face I can see, In his hand he has his offering, the drink of angels in heaven and in hell. I slowly partake in his fine drink, as the world disolved around me...I began to sink, Into the world where light and dark meet...My soul wanders into the mind's endless abyss, new worlds are opened...into darkness I fall.
It certainly took us some time before we managed to get around to ordering a bottle from you. It arrived yesterday and in the evening we partook. I must say that while I am not really a drinker I was most impressed. The flavour is quite unique and the stimulation was outstanding. Thank you for making this experience possible for us and, rest assured, that you will be receiving further orders from us in future. MBV

: Green fairy, O winged hairless humunculous, thou art flacid and soft. Yet, I drink from your soul scarred lips and am scorned as a weeble. Why? This bleak, bleak reality, encompassing me so. Fly hither! The sign of the boar, the molesting touch of spring, fly vaguely sexual green fairy, fly towards the moon! The cold breath of autumn take thee to the land of halcyon thoughts and deeds. To a greater age! You are the ape which picks the lice out of the scalp of the itchy. To you absenta.
: Here's yet another one: this clear sky / is better / with clouds. // let the day become sinister and green / stir up a good storm / to break our heads and habits upon.
: Here's another. hope you like it: it's best / not to awake / too fast. // stirred slowly / we will make safe passage / drop by drop / into the green light of day.
: A little poem for your competition: not crazy but clear/ through green tinted glasses/ not poison but vaccine/ against the rose tinted real// kiss of life or kiss of death/ it is one and the same/ black hole between two parted lips/ through which we slip
: She greets you with open arms. She holds many secrets within. She leads you to heaven or hell. With hopes of heaven, into her arms you leap. Into your veins she seeps, taking you to another place. Alas her love is fleeting, and she leaves you behind. Only to be found again another time

textfield: Walking down the streets in a bad mood makes you think people look at you unfriendly - when you're in a good mood, people seem to look friendly - but when you're with the green fairy there seems to be no woman who does not want you, admire you, no man who does not look at you with the greatest respect. It's a scary thing that it seems to affect other people, but it's true because the way you look people in the eye is so full of loving dignity and grace that really no woman can resist your smile...
hello james i hope this email finds you well. this is a poem i wrote that accompanied a film i did about absinthe. this is the english version. enjoy. james

(Sxonbrn)The little green girl stares with mystic eyes, Into my soul she quickly flies, Her fermented moonbeams take me high, Up to the heavens in the sky. Then without warning, by and by, I feel her green river start to dry, An empty bottle, a lonely sigh, I'll dream of the green girl, Until I die.

(terje.dysvik) message: Hello from Norway.. For many years I have read books where the persons have been drinking Absinthe. Especially Hemningways book The garden of eden is one of my favorites. So the happiness was great when I got a mail that it was possible to buy Absinte in London (thank you James), because I was going to London for a weekendtrip. I went to your shop and bought the real stuff, 70% proof even it is not legal to bring this strong alchol to norway. But here begins the story. After this my life has been a totally sucess. Whenever I go to town in the weekends for a couple of drinks, I always late evenings starts to talk to some girls if they like to read books. (If they dont the story ends) but in most cases they do. The next moment is if they have read the garden of eden, if they have I'll invite them (always 2 girls at the same time) for a little drink of my favorite drink. In 90% of the cases they think of this as a very good idea, and the rest of this story is the same as in the book. For this you all probaly understand that I need a special spoon to impress even more... br Terje
(yadma) message: What does Absenta do for me? After the first glass, my tummy feels warm and my eyes are smiling. After the second glass, I am grinning ear-to-ear and commenting that it is remarkable that I do not feel more of a buzz. About two sips into my third glass, I notice that as I stand, my feet are about a centimeter above the floor. Sound and light become soft and my teeth are vibrating warmly. Suddenly, my girlfriend takes on the characteristics of a supermodel. Her smile is warm and her eyes are hungry. Of course, I manage to finish my third glass!
(abfreilich)message: There are two faces to God. The one which will remain always hidden, and the one that will stare back at you from the mirror. I have tried every drug that has been created by the mind of disgruntled humans. This one is no different than the drugs of our forefathers. Bark at the moon and drink the chaos of the seekers. How many before you have trodden the path? There is one inalienable truth: Human existence is suffering, and suffering is caused by desire. Drink freedom and see desire unfold before you.
(pinkyroyale) message: It all at once brings me to the root of organic beauty, and pushes me towards the boundaries of illuminated procrastination. My soul has expanded 100 fold, and my mind is now all thumbs.

(jdsmd) message: MM increased my general alertness and appreciation of the friend with me and the surroundings about me. Mainly, though, it made me recall an old Laurel & Hardy short with knee-slapping, bent over laughing results. Great stuff; kinda tough to talk, too; at least as quickly as I was thinking.
(robert) message: Absenta certainly makes me Absent minded, and I often end up Absent Without Leave - from my wife, not the army!! Though army deserters probably get away lighter.
(youngs) message: Some say that drink brings out the devil in one, But I know that Absenta brings out the Feiry in me. She might be flirty, witty, sexy, shy, or ready to deal with any one at any time. Mayans brings out the ME in me, and you never know who thats going to be : )
(willsdavid) message: Absenta lifted a burden from my heart, so heavy that it could only have been placed there by a woman, I found myself faced with a moment of clairty that melted the past away. I think I have found in Absenta "the stuff that dreams are made of".
(mdurwin2) message: My band, ironically named Absinthe, has been writting songs for a half-dozen years now. Until we we got ahold of a bottle of Absenta (thank you very much by the way) we hadn't tasted but only read about la feeverte. Once we had our first taste, we were hooked, and so were our songs. Suddenly our songs were becoming the most downloaded rock tunes in the area (now 7 months on the local top downloads chart on Boston.com). People began flocking to our shows. We went from Wednesday night shows in the middle of nowhere to weekends slots in the hottest clubs. We've recently had record company people sniffing around our shows lately. All due to the influence of Absenta. We always have a bottle at our shows and take a sip before every set. Our jams have never been more inspired. Thanks guys! Absinthe www.absintherocks.com

(riverkeeper) message: mixed with a vodka red bull it tasted like hell but the multi coloured heaven that followed made my brain flow from my ears and go play with eyeball in the corner. Which left me nicely set for a evening unlike any other
(jgturpin) message: This Absenta, is what Babe Ruth is to baseball, or Neil Armstrong to is to the history of space exploration. Mary Mayans is the staple of excellence, combining value, taste and a long legacy all in one sharp chartreuse bottle. Mayans color is a baffling array of swirling emerald and lime green, in a magnificent dance. The taste is an experience in and of itself, with an elegant and somewhat complex flavor of a sweet yet not too bitter anise. It does harbor a slight but sophisticated floral tang that provides your taste buds with immense pleasure. I would greatly recommend this Absenta to anyone.
(glenn) message: absinthe makes me want to dance ,quite frankly.Dance like no man has ever danced before. I want to leap like a salmon into a prismatic shower of rainbow hedonism then boogie, boogie, woogy 'til the opaline stuff ebbs from my veins.

(tom.daly) message: Before, during and after sips Absenta tastes good going over my lips, it's like being in a different place then after the party I fall flat on my face
(martin_knapp) message: My first exerience with Absinthe resulted in my hearing cutting out entirely in the middle of a professional ceilidh dance. leaving me with nothing but my internal monologue which, although it was particularly inventive at the time, doesn't help your strip-the-willow too much.

(Regich) message: I was introduced to Absenta as a 20 year-old university student in Madrid. Although I had certainly tried a great number of spirits by that time, none had ever given me what I got from absenta. It was 1978 and Spain was a new democracy trying to "find itself". I was a young American from Indiana trying to "find myself" in an exciting place that I knew little about, despite the fact that I was required to take a course called "Introduction to Spain" before I left. I remember the first couple of months after tasting my first glass of absenta... Barely. I was so enamoured of the drink that I wanted it every night. I began to drink it just poured over ice instead of with water. I had at least two or three glasses nightly. As time went on, I learned more and more about Spain and the Spaniards. I learned to be more prudent about my consumption of absenta too, thank goodness. By May of 1979 Spain had voted on a new constitution. I had been there about 9 months and was going to go on a date with a Spanish girl for the first time. After dinner we went for a drink. Although I had curbed my consumption of absenta,it was still my drink of choice. I offered my date, Concha,a glass, not knowing that she never drank more than a little wine with dinner. I told her it was a drink she had to try. She drank down about half the glass, then proceeded to recount the story of her life. She spoke incessantly for about 2 hours. It was all very interesting and I fell in love then and there. Was it all just the "magic" of Mari Mayans? It could have been. I'm now a 42 year old father of 2 teens and have been married to Concha for over 15 years. Spain is still an exciting place for me. We go back at least once a year. The country has changed quite a bit, but only for the better, I think. And,of course, although I don't enjoy it quite as often as I did those first couple of months in Madrid, my definite drink of choice is still Absenta.
(paultt) message: When the cool serenity settles over you, understanding why the great thinkers of the past consumed this in large quantities. After the first tingle taste slides past your tongue and then the glass is empty before you know, the campfire is more than just brilliant- its inspiring! The evening wans and your body feels even more placid, you find yourself laughing at nothing and thinking about everthing; the feel of sand between your toes, the sound of the ocean crashing in the background, and the wondering of how you got to where you are today. After the third glass you remember some quote about having three glasses and seeing the world as it is, and then it dawns on you that you are naked at a public camping site standing around a fire, singing old sailor songs. paul t
(absinthebh) message: I think of myself as one of the last members of the aristocracy alive today. I had felt for a while that I was losing grip of the beauty of old fashioned traditions. Recreating the scene of old, I took to drinking this mystical intoxicant in the mideval wine cellar of my chateau. I do honestly feel that I have been helped, comforted. Its rediculous to even try to speak of this liquer in an analitical sense...it must be experienced.
(Telander) message: Absinthe helps me have those dreams I always knew were hanging around, waiting to be enjoyed. There is nothing quite like a shot of Absinthe ignited with a match and burning in front of you at the local (favorite) bar like a beacon in the dark. Having been a licorice lover since childhood--was that the little Green Fairy calling, or what?--Absinthe is like an old buddy from days gone by. You get a group of people downing their sweetened shot of (no-longer flaming) Absenta, and you have a party. Indeed. Followed by sweet dreams. Down the hatch, and bring on the amusement, my friends! night-night.
(malknox) message: The Green Fairy leads me to the ends of my imagination and beyond, allows me new perceptions of familiar things, and dances in my mind, creating new connections and bringing forth a wellspring of ideas. She is divine.
(mkeister) message: This delicate green godly fluid makes my life worth while. It flows from the cerebral cortex of bachus and is what I hold most dear over my family, my job, and my life itself. If only it were available all over this fine nation, the citizens would never worry again about any of their petty troubles. This is my manifesto, soak the nation in the green fairy!
(saul) message: Romancing the green fairy, As if from a forbidden berry, Into the night together we fly, Dancing, weaving, swirling on wings so high, No more troubles must we all carry.
(jbenjam1) message: Absenta is truly a connection to the past. It brings back visions of art and culture that have been lost in time, and it represents a bold idealism that only such master artists such as Van Gogh and Degas could possess. It is truly a one of a kind product and cannot be matched anywhere in the world.
(chiara) message: when i drink from my bottle of absenta i look out of my balcony (i live in san juan, puerto rico) and the caribbean sea transforms into green molasses. divino.

Saturday,
As she spread inside me,all that that lies beneath, deep under the sands of time slowly comes up...cracking the mask, unreveling all that I am ,I´m not, I will. Silvan green fairy, neither angel or devil, nevertheless both... Scrable´s wings, she takes my hand and guide me trough my shadow, fragile transparent sweet memorys, walking sacred geometrys within my mind... Make my blood warm, takeme with you ... tonigth I feel like more...

Saturday,
Absenta gives me the chance to take a brief vacation into the realm of the Green Faerie, on wings of green tinged with Anise, and Orange. It eases my wild soul and frees my mind from the mundane things in life; blurring them to the side, while bringing the more creative and pleasureable things into sharper focus. Absenta is an affordable luxury, a holiday without reservations and crowds, it is Nirvana.
(nytshaed)
Saturday,
Absenta takes me back to more refined times of gentlemen and ladies, of socialite parties and petticoats. The mind swims in thoughts of green-fairies baraging the subconscious of french revolutionaries as they trapse off to declare personal independance to the powers that be. It relaxs deeper than pure alcohol ever could. It wraps you in a warm blanket of forgetfulness and blinds you to the concern that comes with it.

message: I wrote this poem one night when I drank Absinthe with my older brother. I felt, that night and long afterward, that it somehow revealed to me the secret workings of our relationship. Dissection I drew a picture of you yesterday and called it “dissection.”
Streaks of eraser marked the borders with regret, Silver lines traced a wine-colored gothic arch— Listening to Lou Reed, I cut myself while questioning the mirror. The bridge spilled from my skin, and I could not understand my own eyes. Crosslegged, dwarfed by Braun’s saints, Czech girls sang Sweet Jane and hummed when words escaped them. You stole a ring from a vendor— caramel eyes of a biblical fly trapped flailing in a dome of amber. Its cold touch against my finger was like the dark stirring of the Vltava. Kneeling in blue night, your promises were marionettes. The roughness of your red scarf left a mark on my neck.

Saturday,
Absenta quite sinply allows me to relive vicariously the "Gay Nineties" mood of La Belle Epoque better than any of the many other absinthes I have tasted. Absenta is the closest absinthe in flavor and quality of the modern day to the types most popular in Europe during the early 1900's. I salute you!

"Thanks
for the bottle! First of all, it is so beautiful to look at.
But I do need some suggestions on how to drink it.
I first mixed a small
teaspoon of sugar in it, then put equal amount of water.
It was still very
strong for me to drink. Is that the proper way
to drink it? Please let
this Yank know how the people in Britain or Europe
drink this special
drink. I want to share it with my friends,
but do it properly.

It arrived! Last Thursday in fact. Not a scratch on it. Of course I was

Strange shaped bottle of greenish liquid has been safely delivered. Initial tests (mixed with lime and lemon juice and ice) show that it doesn't taste too bad. Even the wife liked it, which might not be a good thing. I will write again as soon as I have completed some more test results relating to its after effects! Many thanks, Best Wishes,

I haven't taken the time yet to thank you for your graciousness in shipping my Absinthe in such a timely manner. After I talked to you on a Friday about a month ago, my taste of the green fairy arrived the following Thursday, just in time for the gathering of online friends I was attending. We were thrilled! What an experience. You get much good karma for making this happen. I have the remaining third of the bottle hidden for another very special occasion. I personally believe the legends are true about this stuff. Again, many thanks - you really made a difference.
